Thank you for visiting my page! Hi, I’m Kaoru, an Intimacy director(ID), a new profession in our industry here. I’m working with the director and choreographing intimate scenes like a ‘spicy scene’. In the past, scenes of an intimate nature have been left to the performers’ improvisation or the director’s discretion. Including the safety of the actors and crew, just like Stage Combat or Period Dance, ID provides choreography and preparation. I would like to respect each individual’s unique sensibilities, fitness level and director’s vision more. At the same time, I aim to enrich and enhance the whole experience of storytelling.
Also, I have been teaching and coaching actors, singers, and dancers as a movement teacher/acting coach for over 20 years, so please feel free to discuss and ask questions. Having been trained first as an actor/dancer, I know that spicy scenes can be awkward. Strangely, we sometimes had to improvise or make suggestions based on our personal experiences and imaginations, which never happened with SC or PD! ( I’ve never been asked how I punch and kick my ex’s buttocks; the same applies with Period Dance; I’ve never met anyone who was asked to show their ‘personally experienced’ Viennese Waltz in a courtroom! in front of everyone in rehearsals unless you are an expert! ) That is partially why I trained myself to further my knowledge and equip myself with expertise to serve our fantastic team here. Most of my pupils and students often had issues or worries concerning the scenes of intimacy, just like we sometimes do for Stage Combat or Period Dance. I have extensive knowledge and experience in Actor Movement, so you don’t have to worry about improvising without consent or being pressured to do something outside your boundaries. I have my specialist training and am happy to tackle any problems or concerns together. I usually outline the scenes and choreograph movements and gestures to create the effect we want to achieve in the story. If you have any questions or want more clarification, please do so; I am happy to explain or walk you through the process step by step so that we are all on the same page. Sometimes, we have to express our feelings or concerns in words and say the sentences even if they are considered already solved tasks because we are not telepathic! I make notes as we go, but if I miss something or forget something, please do not hesitate to let me know. I appreciate your help.
